Grandmother's Prayers
If you listen carefully, the wind whispers the names of those we have lost and ensures we never forget. From 2001 to 2014 in Canada, the average rate of homicides involving Indigenous female victims was four times that of those involving non-Indigenous female victims. The artwork here reminds us that even though the wind pushes us forward into an unknown future and that time goes on, we must always look to the past to honour those who can’t be with us.
